Learning Outcomes

• Students must demonstrate an understanding of economic theory by their use of relevant theory in the specific subject area of their thesis. In their writing of a suitable MA thesis, students must show that they understand the underlying theories of their research as well as the limitations of these theories.
• The ability to conduct empirical economic research is evidenced in the writing of a suitable MA thesis.
• The ability to analyze data is shown in the thesis where a student must construct, estimate, and interpret econometric models.
• The thesis writing process helps to assess the ability of the student to communicate ideas effectively in writing. If the program is falling short in its goals, this should be evident through problems that arise in the thesis writing stage.
